"If you talk about it, it's a dream. If you envision it, it's possible. If you schedule it, it's real!"
Tenna Harris, LLMSW, has triumphed over self-doubt, low self-esteem, and personal adversity to transform her life and the lives of others. Drawing from her own hardships, she is dedicated to guiding individuals in transitioning their suffering into purpose and prosperity. Tenna integrates God’s Word with her life experiences and research to help people achieve their God-given destinies.
Her journey began amidst societal stigma in the African American community, poverty, and welfare. Despite these challenges, she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Wayne State University, followed by a maste’s degree in Social Work with a focus on Mental Health and Intergenerational Trauma from Fordham University. Her professional path included a significant role as Mental Health Director at Davenport Shelter and Lead Social Worker at Southwest Solutions for the Youth Build program.
Tenna's commitment to helping those with severe mental illnesses led her to the role of Psychosocial Rehabilitation Director at the Development Centers in Detroit, where she aimed to restore independence to her clients. In addition to her social work credentials, she pursued an MBA at Walden University, receiving a second master’s degree. This combination of education and experience enabled her to develop workshops and programs that heal the mind, body, and soul, particularly focusing on women.
In 2010, she founded the Ronae Ministry non-profit, launching the professional development training curriculum “Living out Loud w/Tenna: Uncomfortable Conversations.” Tenna was ordained as a licensed minister in 2013 and has received numerous accolades for her community work. By 2021, she took on a management role at Black Family Development, supervising eight schools in metro Detroit and helping students tackle behavioral issues, self-esteem, and mental health challenges.
Through her clinical and spiritual expertise, Tenna provides holistic services to those in need. She encourages individuals to embrace their brokenness and use it as a foundation for greatness. Her initiatives include hosting the annual “Always Sisters Lunching” and mental wellness workshops aimed at empowering women.
Additionally, Tenna authored an anthology titled “The Color of Women.” In April 2023, she launched U Evolve Counseling Service, a private practice focused on helping clients overcome self-doubt and fear to embrace their authentic purpose. She is a member of Sigma Gamma RHO Incorporated sorority promoting academic and leadership development and plans to become the director of Northside Adult Services in Fall 2024, continuing her mission to make a significant impact on her community.
